the "#RADIO_B" series

"#RADIO_B" is a visual series shot entirely in NYC with live recordings from my concerts. The series stars me, my vintage radio and the greatest city in the world. Stay tuned for bi-monthly episodes featuring music from local musicians at some of NYC's finest Jazz venues.

episode 1: "It's a lovely day today"

The first installment of #RADIO_B was shot in Flatbush, Brooklyn, my hometown. It features one of my favorite songs, "It's A Lovely Day Today" by Irving Berlin. The song was first published in 1950 and has a natural happy feel to it. The recording is from a recent performance at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola in NYC.

On the third episode of "#RADIO_B", Brandon and 'the radio' go grocery shopping in Brooklyn with Queen's #1 Hit from 1980 "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". Arrangement by @PeachNCoral

#RADIO_B comes to you live from Cuba during the Havana Jazz Festival, which took place in December 2016. Here Brandon performs "Jump In the Line" as a tribute to Harry Belafonte, the singer/activist who also was and still is considered a friend of the Cuban people and revolutionary movement on the island.

Brandon performed a tribute to Belafonte as part of the Jazz Festival at El Tablao at the Alicia Alonso Theatre and Hotel Melia.

episode 2: "blue skies"

In the second episode of "#RADIO_B", Brandon and 'the Radio' visit Coney Island in Brooklyn with Irving Berlin's "Blue Skies" on the dial. The song was written in 1926 and was part of a medley Brandon sang at a recent show at Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC.

EPISODE 4: "once in a lifetime"

"Left-Hand Hate KOed by Love. If I love you, I love you. But if I hate you …" - #RadioRaheem

Check out Episode 4 of #Radio_B, where I walk across the #BrooklynBridge for the first time. It also features one of my favorite songs to perform, "Once in A Lifetime" written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.

We also paid tribute to the actor Bill Nunn, who was also known as the character "Radio Raheem" in the short but powerful, poetic and timely scene, Love/Hate from Spike Lee's 1989 classic film, "Do The Right Thing". We even shot it on the same street in Bed-Stuy/Bushwick, Brooklyn. Nunn died on Sept. 24, 2016 in Pittsburgh, PA.
